Literally French for “glass paste”, pâte de verre is a method of glass casting that allows for specific placement of colors. This is achieved by mixing glass powders and frit with a small amount of binder (i.e. water or glue) and packing it into specific locations within the mold.

Pâte de verre technique is believed to be between three and four thousand years old.
