FusedGlass.Org launched 10 years ago.

The original FusedGlass.Org

This website went online on September 1, 2008.

Since that date, there have been over a million visits. Countless projects have been fired using the downloadable firing schedules. The fusing terminology “puddles” and “fossil vitra,” which both originated here, have found their way into the global fusing vocabulary. Many of today’s fusers credit this site with giving them the knowledge they needed to get started.

Three hundred million seconds, though, is a long time for one web server to run. In recent years, FusedGlass.Org’s ability to keep chugging away became increasingly tenuous. Several years ago the decision was made to stop adding content out of fear that even a small change might break the website.

Efforts to rebuild the site have come and gone over the years. In 2018, I hired a professional developer and we started building the site that is front of you now. Much of it will look familiar. Tutorials, firing schedules, and tools like the pot drop calculator are still where they always have been. A new wiki pulls a lot of information that was previously scattered across the site into one place. Some light-weight social features like the ability to like an image or follow another member have been added, but this site has has no desire to be Facebook. And, importantly, the site now looks great on just about any size screen.

Mostly importantly, the site is built for growth. That means more information and more opportunity to share with fellow artists and enthusiasts.

I’m glad you’re here!
Paul
