ParticipantI have a secondhand Paragon Glass Series 7 kiln, with a Sentry Xpress 4.0 Controller.
Today, when starting a full fused program, I got a message reading “tc” which means Thermocouple Failure. I got the message in twice in the past but then it went away and i was able to fully finish the program.
Now, it is on all the time along with “FAIL” So, I am assuming that I will need to change the termocouple.
Is this something that I could do myself or should I call in a local kiln replace shop that is authorized to work on Paragon kilns. I am not unhandy with a screwdriver, but not overly handy either.
I am first going to check to see if it a loose wire as well.
Ideas, thoughts, comments?

ParticipantI’ve never had to do it, but you should be able to do this yourself.

ParticipantI called Paragon. They directed me to do the paper clip test. I followed the directions and determined it was the thermocouple and not the controller board. Ordered a new one, got it yesterday, followed the directions and I am back in the fusing mode today.
Wasn’t too hard. Needed a second pair of hands to help at times but that significant others are for, right?
Happy Holidays Everyone!
