Yes, I used MR97. Yes, I realize that I should have also used thick fire paper. But now I have a 15″ diameter, 1/2″ thick, beautiful piece that is stuck in the ss ring! I’ve tried a chisle, heat and cold, even a torch. Would sandblasting or waterjet work?
Have you tried putting the edge of the ring on small kilnposts or couple of layers of fiber paper….take the kiln up to about 500 and maybe the glass will drop out. It works with other type molds.
The ring lifted at a bit over 500 but then the piece was thermal shocked. I’ll let it cool, then check it out. You know the glass can always be re-used, and I can start over, this time with more knowledge.
