Hi everyone.  I’ve just bought a kiln and every resource I have says to apply the shelf primer to the floor of the kiln as well.  That makes sense but I don’t know what happens when it is time to reapply.  How do you remove the old wash without damaging the bricks?  Thanks to anyone with advice!

I recommend coating the floor with enough kiln wash that you cannot easily see the lines between the bricks.

Over time the kiln wash will flake and crack.  Simply vacuum the loose bits and recoat.  You don’t ever need (or want) to scrape the kiln floor.
