It was suggested by the artist what was done. The top piece of opal glass was sandblasted with holes and void ‘stems’. A second layer of transparent glass underneath is set onto hilltops made of refractory which correspond to the round shapes. The whole works is slumped/fused at once. That’s my best guess…
