I did a pot melt last night using Paul’s firing schedule.  When I opened the kiln several of the elements were hanging from the lid.

Can I just put in more element pins to hold them in place if I decide to do another pot melt?

Can I fire lower than 1700 if I use a longer soak?

I’ve noticed that Slumpy’s and a couple of other places have the pre-drilled “pots” for pot melts.  How do they clean out these if they decide to change colors?  I know some people just use flower pots and it doesn’t matter…..just use a different pot.  Just wondering about these that are sold.

    Thanks,

You can go a bit cooler, and hold longer (the bottom temp will depend upon your kiln — probably no cooler than 1625). You really can’t get all the glass out of the container, so it’s suggested you have a different pot for each color (thus, the recommendation to use less expensive flower pots).
