Did my first pot melt the other day. What a disaster. I used a steel ring, lined with fiber on a vermiculte shelf coated with at least 15 coats of primer. Fired according to a moderate schedule up to 1700 with proper annealing. After cooling the melt looked great. Then — disaster. My beautiful glass had fused to the shelf. AND I MEAN FUSED. My first attempt to get the glass off took the shelf with the glass. Can anyone tell me what happened. I did not use thinfire because I understand it can contaminate the glass. Yikes!
