Hi All, I am trying to make some votive holders. Each time I try they get thermal shock and shatter in my kiln. I am using 2 layers of glass to make kind of a star shape. I start the kiln on low for about 10-15mins, then move it to 1 for 10-15 mins, then move it to 2 for about 15 mins, Then when I put it on Med it shatters. I am not sure what to do. I have a great design and I am running out of the glass since I am breaking it all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 9″ kiln, and the votive holder I am trying to make. The inside piece of glass is 4.5″ and the outer piece is 5.5″ Is it breaking because I have the pieces in there together? The top piece doesn’t shatter but the bottom piece shatters each time.
