ParticipantHelp. I am fairly new to owning a kiln an firing my own work. I attempted to make round small pieces of glass from squares. Some worked well an rounded while others did not. (Separate help question lol). I used bullseye thin paper the correct side down however it fused to most of the glass. It did not come off with water and scribing. I fired no hotter than 1350. Why did this happen? Te second time I applies kiln wash 5 coats to the shelf and kiln dried at 200 with a 40 min hold as directed by my molds from Creative ceramics. Same thing happened even though I reduced the hold time (so much that half the squares remained squares or rectangles. Any assistance would be great.

ParticipantTo even have a guess at what is going on, we need to know your schedule, the glass you are using, its colours, where the elements in the kiln are located, etc.

ParticipantHi,
I had that problem when I fired my new kiln for the first time. With further firings, the problem just went away. I was using Spectrum on Bullseye paper. I have no verifiable explanation but I do have a hypothesis : a new kiln might have a substance that burns out in the first firings, a substance that affects the non stickability of the paper.
Good luck!
