I have a question regarding an issue I’m having with some dark green recycled glass. I have a huge supply of antique bottle shards in many colors and have been playing around with trying to make some jewelry with some of it, and have been doing some compatibility tests.
However I find the greens and dark ambers/blackglass turn an opaque shade after firing while clears, light greens, blues/aquas are all fine. The surface is still very smooth, the color just changes from dark green to an opaque grey green.
I’m assuming it’s some type of devit or the way antique glass was made, but any info on what’s happening wuld be great.
This piece was originally a deep olive green.
