I am trying to fuse and drape safety glass over a stainless steel bowl. I have fused it back together but cannot find the right schedule for draping it over a stainless steel bowl. The bowl is elevate and covered in kiln wash plus paper. It snaps and falls everytime just below 200 degrees.
Help !!! I have pulled out most of my hair on this one.
The temperature you witness the break at shows you are firing too fast. The steel drains the heat from the centre of the glass, but the suspended glass heats up more quickly, leading to sufficient stress to cause breakage. Slow down. Depends on the thickness as to how much you need to slow the temperature rise. Paul will have some schedules here in the tools section to help.
