I also love Pail’s new book and am awaiting delivery of a larger kiln so I can do more drop out experimentation. Cutting off the top solves all of my previous problems with drop outs however I do see many with beautiful, flat rims. I hope Paul writes book two with more advanced drop out techniques that include a rim. My studio has been closed for over a year due to my house construction and I am working out of a mini kiln. I can’t wait to get back to my studio with a large kiln so I can try Paul’s technique.
