ParticipantLooking for some advice on making a large deep bowl. Where to start for slumping?? I have tried slumping and draping with no good results…

ParticipantBullseye makes a set of bowls where you accomplish the finished piece in multiple firings — starting with a shallow slump and slumping in a little deeper mold with each firing:

Another option is to check out Paul Tarlow’s “Fused Glass Drop Vessels” ebook. It’s a lot simpler than using the progressive molds

InactiveUsing the Bullseye deep mold set can work but it isn’t easy. Getting the glass to fall evenly – even with the mold set – is difficult. It requires a large kiln that heats very evenly.
With drop-out vessels it is easier to get an even drop – but cutting the rim (especially on larger pieces) can be challenging.
