ParticipantJust wondering if anyone had any recommendations for cutting systems? I specifically need something for cutting uniform strips (I’m just not very good at it by hand). I’ve been making due, but thinking it would be much easier with some kind of set up. (If a circle cutter is part of the system, that would be cool too).
I’ve looked online to purchase something and frankly, I just can’t tell what I’m buying. Seems like they all come in pieces and I’m not sure what pieces I need to make it work. Hoping not to spend a ton of money, as this is just a hobby for me and likely the money will not be recouped.
Suggestions would be wonderful.
Thanks!

InactiveCheckout our ebook plans for building your own strip cutter here:
If you are willing to build it yourself you’ll end up with a vastly superior cutter for about what a less effective commercial one will cost you.

ParticipantI have a Morton which I like (http://mortonglass.com/). I started with just a waffle grid years ago for stained glass, so the Morton was a big step up for me
.
It does not, however, come with a circle cutter. I have a Silberschnitt for that (which I REALLY love).

ParticipantI purchased Paul’s book and my husband made the cutter for me. I’ve been very pleased with the ease and accuracy that I can cut strips. Well worth the time. Wasn’t difficult, the directions are very clear. You might have to use very fine sandpaper on the bar which the cutting head slides on more than you might think. I also used spray silicone on the bar.
