as i am primarily a potter, can i make and use a porcelain ring as a mold for my ceiling light diffuser. i can throw a 12inch ring with a one inch depth. lay the ring on fiber paper and thenfill with class pieces to make a sheet of fused glass. do you think that this idea will work?

Of course!  I started doing ceramics after I started fusing 7 yrs ago, just so I could make my own molds.  With a ring, though, I would still use 1/8″  fiber paper as a liner just to allow a little expansion room.  Besides, it’s all about experimentation … what have you got to lose?

Let us know how it works & post some pics!

    Hello alienor,

You can use porcelain ring instead of steel casting ring. I think porcelain ringis better in terms of cost. But use good quality porcelain ring.
