The costs of firing a kiln are relatively small.  Multiply your kw rating by the time (in hours) it takes your kiln to get to top temperature and you have the maximum kilowatts that will be used in a fuse firing.  Multiply that by the amount the electricity company charges for a kilowatt hour and you will find that for your kiln it will cost very little.

For example, I have a 3kwh kiln that takes 4 hours to reach top temperature (although it is not on all that time – it cycles)  So my maximum kwh is 12.  I pay 11 pence per KWH, so my cost is £1.31 for a 50cm square kiln shelf load.
