Could they be made from acryllic?

I have seen this work in Denmark (Scandinavia)

It was cut out from an acryllic board,

polished a bit at the sides,

glued a picture on theback side,

and then vanished on top of the picture,

to make it water proof

then at last drilled holes for finishing
