printing color decals for fusing

Hello!

Does anyone know what type of printer and decal paper I would need to use to be able to make my own color decals for glass fusing.  I have read plenty of information  on how to make black and white decals and sepia decals but I would love to make color decals for fusing.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great day.

The colored toners are the

The colored toners are the problem. They are quite expensive (we are talking several thousand dollars a set) and very difficult to find. The only reason the sepia works is that HP toners contain iron and what you see after fusing is iron oxide (rust).

All the printed color decals (using the expensive toners) I have seen are sort of washed out. Do not have the crisp look of screen printed color decals.

COLOR DECALS FOR FUSING

Thank you so much for this response.

I would like to be able to create a variety of fusible color decals. While I have come across some individuals that are creating fused glass with unique (not mass produced decals that are available) fused color decals it seems as though these need to be created by a company that has this expensive equipment and will provide this service .

I am so happy to find this great resource for all of my questions!  I am new to fusing (six months) and I want to try it all!

COLOR DECALS FOR FUSING

My friend in Houston, Texas has the equipment for making the decals for ceramics or for glass and several years of experience using it. His web site is www.ceramicdigical.com.  You can see some of his artwork at www.azadiart.com.

Great!

Thank you so much!

Hiya

I have recently found the following product which may be a substitute for what you want here

http://www.specialtyartglass.com.au/epages/specialtyartglass.sf/en_AU/?O...

note that it is only baked in a regular oven, but I am sure you can come up with something to design a decal on a single sheet of glass - I certainly can.

Alternately if you want something standard, ceramic\porcelain decals are high fire products and can be purchased ready printed at your local ceramicraft store.

Good luck & enjoy glass

Patricia

THANKS

THANKS!  I CHECKED WITH THEM AND THEY DON'T PROVIDE THIS SERVICE.

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HAVE  FUSIBLE COLOR DECALS MADE THAT ARE OF MY OWN DESIGNS AND PICTURES?

I KNOW I KEEP SAYING THIS  BUT I AM LOOKING FOR THE COLOR TO BE RETAINED THROUGH THE FUSING PROCESS AND NOT THE SEPIA TONE.

THANKS

I WILL CHECK THIS OUT AND INCLUDE ANY INFORMATION I COME ACROSS IN THIS FORUM!

Custom Glass Decals

Hi,

I saw this on an earlier post and thought I would pass it along.  Per her note, they do custom decals from your pictures.

Custom Glass Decals

Unfortunately those are sepia again and the lady is after colour.

I'm planning on using the Krafty Block ones as you can print on them in colour yourself if you have access to a colour laser printer.  the only catch is that you may not be able to heat them so high, so you need to plan  ahead, lay out your project and once everything is complete, apply the decal and fire it at 175C in your oven.  This apparently makes it scratch proof.

Worth a try

Personal fusible decals

Like you, I've looked high and low for a fusible decal paper that will give me color decals of my own design. You can order custom ceramic mugs at any copy shop so why can't we get such decals to put onto our glass??? Arrgh.

Decals

Go to decals4artist.com. They can do most colors. I use them for images(photos) and they look like the  images I send them. They have all the info you need. The images must be PSD or TIF @ 300 resolution. I hope this helps.

They are called decals4artist.com now.
