Using seashells with fused glass-possible?

I know in ceramics, and particularly with wood firing, potters use seashells for firing pots on and among.

Is it possible that someone here has used seashells to fire with the glass as in the Fossil Vitra tutorial?

The shell takes a high temp ( up to 1350C) so may also be ok as mould - anyone tried it ????

Thanks for sharing that Fossil Vitra idea, it has my synapses firing with some great new ideas for the classroom.

Seashells are largely

Seashells are largely calcium.  This will stick to the glass if a separator is not used.  The durability of the shells depends on the thickness, as some of the calcium seems to "disapear" on each firing.
