The Hafner Creative Space was founded in 2009 by Dorothy Hafner, a leading American glass artist. Her works are in over 20 museum collections worldwide and published in over 60 books on Art, Craft, and Design.
Hafner enjoys teaching and sharing her craft with professionals and amateurs alike in her expansive SONO studio, minutes away from Norwalk’s exciting restaurant and nightlife district.
Workshops at all levels are offered including private classes and group parties.
NEW! A Glass Fusing Experience – 2-hours introduction
Join the excitement. See all the steps of the glass fusing process and learn glass cutting. Then make your own glass plate in sparkling colors. Your works of art will add flare to any home or office or be special gifts for friends and loved ones.

1st and 3rd Saturdays 1-3pm
Color, Color, Color – 1-day workshop
Students choose from over 60 transparent colors that can be overlaid to create their own unique tints and tones. Basics of glass fusing are covered, including glass cutting. Each makes a plate or panel that adds flare to any home or office.

The Elements of Inspiration – 3-day intensive workshop
Hafner’s “visual brainstorming” exercise launches the program, providing students with steps and methods for creating their own dynamic designs with lively color play and personally meaningful abstractions in fused glass.
All steps of the process are covered including Hafner’s precision glass cutting techniques. Critiques, group discussion and printed handouts round out the experience.

Design, Inspiration and Realization - 6-week workshop
Drawings, paintings and words are used as creative springboards. Students learn Hafner’s exciting methods for harvesting from their own imaginations and areas of interest. The dynamics of design, color and line are fully explored as well as the language of abstraction.
Choose from over 60 colors to mix, match and overlay to create your own tints and tones.
Demonstrations, one-on-one critiques, lively group discussion and print hand-outs round out the program

Materials, tools, and firing for class projects are included. Those over the limit may be subject to additional charge. Open shop time may be booked for enrolled students. Advance registration required. 48 hr cancellation notice required to allow for rescheduling.
