Hello All!  I have started recently (about 2 months ago) fusing glass.  I took a short class and was told in the class that in my kiln, I should use kiln wash on the shelf and to also use shelf paper.  which I have been doing.  but my pieces that I have been doing (free form jewelry for the most part) has a funny texture on the back of the piece.  should I dispense with using the shelf paper?

And how do I save these pieces I’ve already done?  they are nice looking on the front, but the back is just weird feeling.

thanks for any help you can give me.

    Blessings

I use bullseye thin shelf paper.  It does not leave a texture.  It is a bit more expensive than other shelf papers but well worth it. The primer on your shelf also needs to be smooth. You can always fire your pieces again.
